VProtect Application: What is it and Should I Remove

VProtect shows fake virus alert and system issues to the users. It also displays the support number along with the alert and asks users to contact on this number to fix the problem. It is used to frighten the user and make them dial the number.
Once a user contacts to the support number, the so-called support executive persuade users to purchase their antimalware software or support package, then they can fix the issue. Once you made the payment, you may or may not receive the removal tool which is also a fake one.
The whole method is used to con people and take money from them in the name of technical support. Apart from conning you for money, it also does the spy work. It scans your files for confidential documents like your credit card number or banking login details. It also tracks your online activity like browsing history, search history, IP address, location.
The collected information is sold to third-party clients who may use it for marketing purpose or other illicit activities like identity theft.
Should you Remove VProtect Application?
If your system has any AVG product installed, then there is no reason to worry. You don’t need to remove the VProtect or vprot.exe application. But if you haven’t any AVG product, then you should remove it as soon as possible. It keeps tracking you for confidential information, so it is best that you remove it right now.
How to Remove VProtect Application?
To remove the fake version of VProtect application follows the below steps.
Step 1- Stop VProtect Application
Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc button together, It will open the Task Manager.
Go to the Details tab, and find vprot.exe or vprotect.exe process.
Now select the process and click on End task.
Step 2 – Uninstall VProtect Application
Press the Windows button and R key to open the run dialog.
Now type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
Now the list of all programs installed on your computer opens. Locate the VProtect Application, Right click it and choose Uninstall.
Now follow the screen instructions to remove it.
Step 3 – Delete the Remaining Files of VProtect
Once you uninstalled the VProtect Application, it is time to remove the remaining files of this app, so that it cannot appear again.
C:\Program Files and locate VProtect folder and delete it. If you don’t find it there, then check it in the
C:\Program Files (x86).
Now press Win+R button and type %temp% and press OK button.
You will see Temporary files, press Ctrl+A to select all the files and press Shift+Del button to delete them.
Step 4 – Run MalwareFox Antimalware to Clean your PC
Download MalwareFox Antimalware.
Open the installer and follow the screen instructions to install it.
Now MalwareFox will update the program and the signatures.
Once it is compleated, press the Scan button.
Press Next button to clean all threats from your PC.
