Quick Recipes is a browser virus that is hijacking the user’s browser and using this platform to promote its fake search engine – quickrecipessearch-serp.com.
It is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA). It might have got an entry in the victim’s system during the installation of a software bundle or by unintentionally clicking on a rogue advertisement.
After its installation, the Quick Recipes infiltrates into the browser’s settings and change its default search engine and homepage to its fake search engine. Even opening a new tab will open – quickrecipessearch-serp.com.
It is a fake search engine because it cannot generate its own search results from the search query entered by the users. So, usually, such fake search engines redirect their users to the official search engine like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.
Quick Recipes is no different. It redirects its search query to Yahoo’s search engine.
Such hijackers can be very dangerous for the privacy of the users. They can track down the browsing activities such as- history, search queries, username or passwords, etc.
